Your dog should incorporate at least a little fun. Keep your training lessons between ten to fifteen minutes or so to avoid the dog becoming disinterested and distracted. Make sure to praise your dog with praises when he does something right. When the dog enjoys their training, he will pay attention and listen to what you say.

Understand that more mature dogs do have certain limitations. Older dogs are harder to train because of developed quirks, as they will already be accustomed to certain behaviors to some extent. Make sure that your dog gets checked out regularly. If your efforts to train your dog continue to fail with no clear reason for doing so, you should take them to the vet. Dogs hide any pain or discomfort. Behavioral changes may be the only way you get that there is a deeper issue. For example, aggression can signal pain, and a sudden house training regression may indicate an infection in the urinary tract.

Once you have worked with your dog and taught him what you want him to know, you just need to practice these skills. The dog enjoys pleasing its owner in the same way the owner enjoys seeing the dog respond to the training they’re administering.
